The Minoan Palace Centers of Crete have been officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, marking a historic milestone for the island. Heraklion Mayor Alexis Kalokerinos attended the inscription ceremonies and described the moment as deeply moving. The designation recognizes the outstanding universal value of Minoan archaeological sites, which include the Palace of Knossos near Heraklion, as well as palaces at Phaistos, Malia, and Zakros.
