This is a national public holiday period when road traffic increases significantly, and authorities respond with heightened enforcement of speed limits, seatbelt use, and drink-driving laws. Tourists driving rental cars or motorcycles should ensure all documents are in order, including valid licenses and vehicle insurance. Expect possible checkpoints on main roads and routes between towns. Police presence will be especially visible on intercity highways and coastal roads.
