Earthquake of 5.1 Magnitude Strikes Mount Athos

A 5.1 magnitude earthquake shook Mount Athos on Wednesday evening around 9 PM. The seismic event occurred approximately 8 kilometers northwest of Karyes, according to initial reports. The Athens Geodynamic Institute reported that the earthquake struck at a depth of 5 kilometers, which is relatively shallow and likely made it strongly felt in the area.
