Chania Urges Residents to Clear Properties to Prevent Wildfires

The municipality of Chania has issued an appeal to residents to clean their properties and clear vegetation from their plots in order to reduce the risk of wildfires. The call comes as part of fire prevention measures to protect the local community from the dangers of uncontrolled fires.

Residents who fail to comply with the cleaning requirements may face administrative penalties of up to 2,000 euros. The municipality has also reserved the right to carry out mandatory cleaning on behalf of non-compliant property owners, with costs and associated fines levied on the residents.
