Back to newsJet2.com is expanding its summer flight operations from London Luton Airport, adding new Mediterranean routes that include Chania, in western Crete. The expansion increases direct connectivity between the UK and Crete, giving British tourists more options to reach the island without connecting through other hubs. Chania International Airport (Ioannis Daskalogiannis) serves the western part of the island, making it the practical entry point for visitors heading to Chania city, the Samaria Gorge, Balos lagoon, and the surrounding Apokoronas region. Travelers flying into Chania rather than Heraklion save roughly 2 to 3 hours of ground travel if their destination is in western Crete. Booking early is recommended as new routes on budget carriers tend to fill quickly once announced, particularly for peak July and August travel dates.
