Back to newsTwo separate road accidents on Tuesday mobilized emergency services across Crete, including ambulances, traffic police, and fire crews.
The more serious incident occurred on the BOAK, the main east-west highway crossing the island, where a four-vehicle pileup caused significant disruption. A second accident took place on Kazantzidis Avenue, leaving one person with minor injuries.
Both scenes required a full emergency response, with authorities attending simultaneously to manage traffic and assist those involved.
Tourists driving on Crete, particularly along the BOAK which connects Heraklion to the eastern and western parts of the island, should expect potential delays in the affected areas. Drivers are advised to remain alert, maintain safe following distances, and allow extra travel time when using major roads. Road conditions and traffic volumes in summer increase the risk of accidents across the island.
