Refreshment Kiosks Open at Heraklion's Historic Venetian Walls

Sunday, 5 July 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
New refreshment kiosks have officially opened along Heraklion's iconic Venetian Walls, offering visitors a place to rest and enjoy a drink while taking in views of the historic fortifications. The kiosks were developed as part of a municipal initiative to revitalize the public space surrounding the Walls, with careful attention to preserving the site's monumental heritage and green surroundings. The Venetian Walls, built between the 16th and 17th centuries, encircle the old city of Heraklion and are one of the best-preserved examples of Venetian military architecture in the Mediterranean. The new facilities make the walls more accessible and comfortable for a leisurely walk. Visitors can explore the full perimeter of the fortifications on foot, with the kiosks providing convenient stops along the route.
