Pro-Palestinian flotilla approaches Crete amid military monitoring

Monday, 4 May 2026/SourceGoogle News/1 min read
Ships belonging to the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, a pro-Palestinian humanitarian activist group attempting to break the Gaza blockade, are currently approaching Crete from the west. Greek and allied military vessels, helicopters, and drones are closely monitoring the convoy as it moves through the eastern Mediterranean. The situation is unfolding in waters west of Crete and does not pose any direct threat to the island or its visitors. Tourists traveling to or from Crete by sea should be aware that increased naval activity may be visible in surrounding waters, though ferry and cruise routes remain unaffected at this time. Visitors are advised to follow updates from port authorities if traveling by private vessel in the area. No disruptions to Crete's airports, ports, or tourist infrastructure have been reported in connection with this incident.
