British Tourist in Critical Condition After Quad Bike Crash in Rhodes

Sunday, 26 April 2026/SourceGoogle News/1 min read
A 21-year-old British tourist is in intensive care at a hospital in Crete following a serious traffic accident in Rhodes involving a "gourouна," the informal Greek term for a quad bike or ATV. The young man was transported to Crete for specialist medical treatment after the incident. Quad bikes and similar off-road vehicles are widely available for rent across Greek islands and are a common cause of serious accidents involving tourists each year. Riders are often inexperienced, roads can be narrow and unpaved, and helmets are not always worn. If you plan to rent a quad bike or ATV during your visit to Crete or other Greek islands, ensure you have appropriate insurance coverage, wear a helmet at all times, stick to marked roads, and check that your travel insurance covers motorized vehicle accidents.
