The tremor occurred at a focal depth of 28.8 kilometers beneath the seabed. Light shaking was felt across the southern Heraklion region. At this magnitude and depth, earthquakes of this type pose no danger to people, buildings, or infrastructure. No damage or injuries have been reported. Crete sits in one of Europe's most seismically active zones, and minor tremors at this scale are common and generally go unnoticed. Tourists in the area can continue their plans without concern.
