Fire in truck at Souda ferry port contained

Sunday, 30 August 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
A fire broke out in a truck parked in a ship's garage at Souda port in Chania on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred while the passenger and vehicle ferry 'Eryros' was loading cargo. Power supply to the area was immediately disconnected as a precautionary measure. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene. The fire was contained and power systems were restored once the situation was under control. Souda is Crete's principal ferry terminal, handling regular passenger and cargo services to mainland Greece and the surrounding islands. Travelers using the port should verify ferry schedules with operators to confirm any operational impacts.
