Back to newsThe 115 Combat Wing based at Chania has conducted a training flight over the Akrotiri peninsula using an aircraft from its "Zeus" aerobatic display team. The wing has asked local residents for understanding regarding temporary noise disturbance caused by the exercise. Akrotiri is a peninsula northeast of Chania city, home to the Chania International Airport (Ioannis Daskalogiannis) as well as the military air base. Visitors staying in the Akrotiri area, including the popular beach resorts of Stavros and Kalathas, may notice increased aircraft noise during similar training sessions. These exercises are routine and short in duration. No impact on commercial flight schedules at Chania Airport has been reported.
