Read the story

The beautiful beach of Skotini is located at the Cape Sideris , between Ravdoucha and Agios Vasilios , just before Panagia Myrtidiotissa at Choni , at the exit of a small and quite steep gorge. You can reach the beach by walking the impressive path that starts from the area of Saint Marina (Agia Marina) in Ravdoucha and heads to Nopigia .

About 20-25' from the start of the hike, and after crossing the rock above Ravdoucha beach , you leave the trail and descend to the ruined transhipment facilities of iron ore operating here in the early 20th century. In the past there was also a small settlement, Skotini , where the mining workers lived.

Just before we reach the rocky shore, we find a large cave where dozens of goats from the area find shelter. After carefully crossing the mine and the natural saltpans, we arrive at the tiny beach Skotini with its rocks and cavities, also known as Metalio (mine).

The beach has pebbles and clear blue water, but unfortunately it is greatly affected by the west winds that carry trash all over the bay of Kissamos . The beach is perfect for relaxation when south winds blow, when the waters are clear.
