Read the story

At the suburb Tria Monastiria of Rethymnon city , just opposite the entrance of the Municipal Cemetery of the city, we meet a ruined stone building with a small church on its roof, in a beautiful olive grove. This building is an inn , one of the many built in Crete, which was built during the Venetian Era for the travelers who had to stay out of the castle of Rethymnon , as the gates closed at sunset.

We still see, at the ground floor, the rooms where travelers and animals stayed overnight. Above the roof, a stone staircase leads to the chapel of Panagia Katholiki ( Catholic church of Virgin Mary ), which still dominates the area.

Despite efforts to restore the deserted building and the church, this is still deserted.
