Read the story
Linoperamata (or Ellinoperamata ) is a long sandy beach, that is located 8km west of Heraklion city , bounded best by Almiros river . This is actually the west end of the 7km long beach starting at Linoperamata and ending at Pancretan Stadium , 1km west of Heraklion .
Linoperamata is not highly prefered by the locals, because of the local Power Station and the heavy industries, which are based on its west part. However, the water is clean and the beach is nice and quiet.
It is not very well organized like other beaches in the neighbouring Ammoudara , but there are some hotels nearby. The beach is open to north winds and is usually wavy.
This makes it a popular spot for windsurfers. Linoperamata can be accessed by city bus from Heraklion.
