The coast guard responded promptly and transported both swimmers safely back to shore. No injuries were reported. Hersonissos is a popular tourist destination on the northern coast of Crete, with many visitors swimming along its coastline during the summer season. Tourists planning to swim in the area are advised to stay within designated swimming zones, pay attention to sea conditions and posted warning flags, and avoid swimming alone or far from shore. The coast guard maintains an active presence along the Cretan coast throughout the tourist season and can be reached in emergencies by calling 108.
