Back to newsA dance performance titled "Amphibia" will take place at the ancient archaeological site of Aptera on Monday, July 6 and Tuesday, July 7, 2026, starting at 7:15 PM. The site of Aptera is one of the most significant Minoan and Roman archaeological sites in western Crete, located near Chania, and offers a striking open-air setting for cultural events. This production is part of a broader cultural program bringing live performance to historic venues across the island. Visitors staying in the Chania region during early July have a rare opportunity to experience contemporary dance against the backdrop of ancient ruins. Aptera is easily reached by car from Chania in approximately 20 minutes. Attendees are advised to arrive early, wear comfortable shoes suitable for uneven terrain, and bring a light layer as evenings can be cool at elevated sites.
