A traffic accident on the BOAK (Northern Road Axis of Crete) near Agios Nikolaos this morning involved a motorcyclist who was transported to Agios Nikolaos Hospital for treatment. The incident caused significant disruption on this major east-west highway, which serves as the primary route connecting Heraklion to the eastern part of the island, including Agios Nikolaos, Elounda, and Sitia. Tourists traveling east toward popular destinations such as Spinalonga, Elounda, or the Lasithi Plateau should expect possible delays in this area and allow extra travel time. If heading to Agios Nikolaos from Heraklion, check local conditions before departure.
