Three Simultaneous Wildfires Strike Crete; Authorities Deploy Crews

Three wildfires broke out simultaneously on Crete on Monday, affecting the areas of Ierapetra, Viannos, and Malevizi. One fire started near the Bramiana Dam in Ierapetra. Firefighting crews were deployed across all three fronts. Tourists currently in or planning to visit eastern and central Crete should monitor local alerts and follow instructions from authorities. The Ierapetra and Viannos areas are in the eastern part of the island, while Malevizi is located near Heraklion in the north. Road access in affected zones may be restricted. During active wildfire conditions, avoid hiking or driving through rural and forested areas near the affected regions.
