Fire subsides in Messara region, Heraklion

A fire that broke out in the afternoon has subsided in the Messara region of Heraklion, central Crete. The fire affected cultivations, pastures and agro-forest areas along the Asterousio Mountains, specifically between the villages of Pompia and Alithini in Phaistos Municipality. Firefighting forces responded quickly and effectively to bring the blaze under control. The affected area is located inland from Crete's main coastal tourist regions and resort areas.
