A light magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck the sea approximately 67 km south-southeast of Kaloi Limenes, on the southern coast of Crete, on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 12:17 pm local time (GMT+3). The epicenter was located offshore in the Libyan Sea. At this magnitude, the tremor was minor and is unlikely to have caused any damage or disruption on the island. Tourists in the area may have felt a brief, slight shaking, but no tsunami risk or structural hazard is associated with earthquakes of this size. Crete sits in a seismically active region, and small earthquakes like this are common and routine. No action is required from visitors, and all normal activities, travel, and coastal access can continue as usual.
