Back to newsA FRONTEX vessel rescued 83 migrants from two small boats in the sea south of Kalos Limenas, a coastal village on the southern shore of Crete. The operation was coordinated by the Hellenic Coast Guard. Kalos Limenas, also known as Kaloi Limenes, is a quiet area on the Libyan Sea coast, located roughly 70 kilometers south of Heraklion near the Messara Plain.
This type of maritime rescue is part of ongoing border management activity in the southern Aegean and Libyan Sea.
