Back to newsEarly on Friday morning, fire services in the Heraklion region responded to a blaze at a small workshop in Kroussonas, a village located in the foothills of Mount Psiloritis, approximately 25 kilometres southwest of Heraklion city. Firefighters were called out in the pre-dawn hours after the fire broke out at the light industrial premises. Emergency crews attended the scene to bring the situation under control. Kroussonas is a quiet inland village occasionally visited by tourists exploring the Malevizi area and the surrounding mountain landscape. The incident is localised to the workshop site and does not appear to affect major tourist routes or nearby attractions. Visitors travelling through the area on the road toward Anogia or the Psiloritis mountain region should anticipate possible minor delays if emergency vehicles remain on site. No impact on Heraklion city or coastal tourist areas is expected.
