Back to newsThe municipality of Viannos, in southeastern Crete, has signed a contract to begin asphalt paving works on two local roads: the municipal road serving the village of Kato Symi, and the road connecting Sykolagos to Tertsa along the southern coast. The project aims to restore and resurface these routes, improving access to smaller inland villages and the coastal area around Tertsa. Tourists driving through this part of the Heraklion regional unit, particularly those heading to the beaches near Tertsa or exploring the Viannos hinterland, should anticipate possible delays or temporary road disruptions during construction. It is advisable to check local conditions before travelling these routes and consider alternative roads if necessary.
