Wednesday, 3 June 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
A Greek-flagged tourist vessel was immobilized due to a mechanical failure near Elounda, in the Lasithi region of eastern Crete. The Hellenic Coast Guard responded to the incident and ordered the boat to halt operations, prohibiting it from departing. All 31 passengers on board were safely disembarked. The vessel remains grounded pending inspection and repairs. Elounda is a popular coastal destination in eastern Crete, known for boat excursions to Spinalonga island and nearby bays. Tourists with planned day trips or boat tours in the area should confirm with their operator that services are running as scheduled before heading to the port. If your excursion is affected, contact your tour provider or hotel for rebooking options. The Coast Guard continues to monitor the situation.
