Back to newsHeavy traffic congestion is continuing at Kladisos on the outskirts of Chania, with long queues building up along the Old National Road. The situation is caused by the ongoing closure of the Vamvakopoulos junction, which is currently under construction. Drivers are being diverted onto the older road, creating significant delays, particularly during peak hours. The junction is expected to reopen to traffic within approximately one month. Tourists driving between Chania city center and the western or eastern parts of the island should factor in extra travel time when passing through this area and consider checking local traffic conditions before setting out. Using the BOAK motorway where possible may help avoid the worst of the delays.
