BOAK Highway Opens Sunday; Kissamos Exit Temporarily Closed

A new section of the BOAK highway at the Vamvakopoulos junction opens to traffic on Sunday, July 12. To complete the transition, crews will temporarily close the road to relocate signage and equipment from the northern to the southern section. Drivers should also note that the exit from Kissamos will be closed during this period as part of the new traffic management plan. If you are travelling along the north coast of Crete between Chania and Kissamos, expect temporary disruptions and possible detours around this junction. Allow extra time for your journey and follow on-site signage carefully. The work is part of the ongoing BOAK east-west highway construction project, which aims to improve road connections across the island.
