One tower was built at posiiton Varsamakia , province Kissamos and close to Sfinari , on the possible site of the unknown village Monoplatanos . The tower is located next to the former monastery of Agios Dimitrios , the temple of which is preserved in very good condition.
The monastery initially operated in the 15th century and was dedicated to Saint Gregory . The tower possibly belonged to the Venetian noble Grymanis , who was captured by the revolutionary army of Kantanoleon .
There is a legend for this tower, telling that it hides a haunted treasure, which however has not been found yet. Many believe that this treasure was stolen by Italian lone prospectors in 1960-70, who were equipped with relevant maps.
