Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, attended the annual memorial service at the Suda Bay War Cemetery near Chania, honoring the 1,527 Allied soldiers buried there. The ceremony was organized by the British Embassy as a mark of respect for British and Commonwealth troops who fell during the Battle of Crete in May 1941. The Suda Bay War Cemetery, located approximately 6 kilometers east of Chania on the Akrotiri peninsula, is one of the most significant World War II sites in Greece and is open to visitors year-round, free of charge.
