Mooring Rope Snaps on Ferry in Mytilene; Dockworker Injured

Wednesday, 3 June 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
A mooring rope on the passenger and vehicle ferry "Nissos Rodos" snapped just before departure in Mytilene harbour, injuring a 50-year-old dockworker. Port authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident. Note that this incident occurred in Mytilene (Lesbos), not Crete. Travellers booked on ferry routes involving this vessel should check with their operator for any schedule disruptions or delays resulting from the investigation. When boarding or disembarking ferries, passengers are advised to stay clear of mooring lines and restricted dockside areas, as rope-snap incidents can pose serious safety risks to anyone nearby.
