Weak 2.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes East of Chania

A weak earthquake of magnitude 2.6 struck 5.3 kilometers east of Chania early Thursday morning at 01:50 (GMT +2). According to seismic monitoring, the tremor was minor and caused no reported damage.

Seismic activity remains common in Crete due to the island's position along active Mediterranean geological zones. Residents in the affected area reported feeling the brief tremor.
