Back to newsA free public parking area located opposite the Bank of Chania on Eleftheriou Venizelou Street in Chania city center has been abruptly closed. The dirt lot, considered one of the last remaining free parking spaces in the downtown area, was accessible from Venizelou Street. The closure was sudden, with no prior public notice from the municipality. Tourists driving to Chania city center should be aware that finding free parking near the center is now significantly harder. Paid parking garages and street meters are available in surrounding areas. Visitors are advised to arrive early, use public transport or taxis from their accommodation, or park further from the center and walk into the old town.
