Back to newsA significant wildfire has broken out near the Bramiano reservoir, on the outskirts of Ierapetra in southeastern Crete. Firefighting crews have been deployed in force to contain the blaze. Ierapetra is a popular coastal town on the south coast of Lasithi, known for its beaches and as a base for exploring the region. Tourists currently in the area should stay clear of roads leading toward the reservoir and follow instructions from local authorities. Smoke may be visible from nearby beaches and the town center. Check local updates before driving inland, as access routes near the fire may be temporarily restricted. Keep car windows closed if smoke is present and avoid outdoor activities in the immediate vicinity until the fire is brought under control.
