Back to newsThe cruise ship Scarlet Lady docked at Souda Bay, near Chania, on Friday morning after its original ports of call in Turkey and Egypt refused entry to the vessel. Souda is one of the largest natural harbors in the Mediterranean and serves as the main cruise and naval port for the Chania region in western Crete. The unexpected rerouting brought the luxury liner and its passengers directly to Crete instead. Tourists already on the island may notice increased visitor activity around Chania and the Souda port area. Visitors arriving via Souda can reach Chania city center by taxi or local bus in approximately 15 to 20 minutes. No disruptions to regular ferry or port operations have been reported.
