Back to newsOver 2,600 cruise passengers arrived in Chania this morning after a large cruise ship docked at Souda Port, having sailed from Piraeus. The vessel carried a total of 2,695 guests, making it a notably busy arrival day for the city.
Souda Port serves as the main cruise terminal for the Chania region, located approximately 7 kilometers east of the old town. Visitors arriving by cruise ship typically have limited time ashore, so expect the historic Venetian harbor area, the covered market, and the Archaeological Museum to be busier than usual throughout the day.
If you are visiting Chania independently today, plan for heavier foot traffic in the old town center, particularly along the waterfront promenade. Morning hours will see the highest congestion; afternoon visits after 14:00 are likely to be quieter as cruise passengers return to the ship.
