Back to newsA new water borehole has been brought into operation in Anopoli, a village in the Sfakia district of southern Crete. The municipality of Sfakia has also installed a telemetry system for the first time in one of its water supply facilities, allowing remote monitoring and management of the borehole's operation. Anopoli sits in the White Mountains above the Libyan Sea and is a popular base for hikers exploring the Aradena Gorge and surrounding trails. The improved water infrastructure supports reliable supply for both residents and the growing number of visitors to this rugged, remote area, where access to resources has historically been limited. Tourists hiking in the Sfakia region can expect more stable water availability in the area.
