Back to newsThe mayor of Heraklion has proposed that renovation works at the famous Liontaria (Lions' Fountain) in the city center begin on November 1st. The Morosini Fountain, located in the heart of Heraklion's central Lions' Square, is one of the most visited landmarks in Crete. By scheduling the works to start after the main tourist season, the city aims to minimize disruption to visitors. Tourists planning a trip before November should be able to enjoy the fountain and surrounding square without construction interference. Those visiting from November onward should expect limited access to the area and possible changes to the surrounding pedestrian zone during the renovation period.
