Back to newsGreek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has announced a temporary reduction in fuel prices across Greece, including Crete, running through the end of August 2025. Unleaded petrol will drop by 10 cents per liter, while diesel will be reduced by 5 cents per liter. Official implementation details are expected to be announced from Monday. For tourists renting cars or motorcycles to explore Crete this summer, this reduction means slightly lower fuel costs when filling up at petrol stations around the island. The measure appears timed to ease travel costs during the peak summer holiday season. Travelers planning road trips along the north coast highway or into the Cretan mountains can expect the new prices to be reflected at the pump from early next week.
