Back to newsPower outages are scheduled across several areas of Crete on Friday, June 26, as DEDDIE (the Greek electricity distribution network operator) carries out planned maintenance, reinforcement, and upgrade works on the local grid. These are temporary, scheduled interruptions rather than emergency failures. Tourists staying in affected areas may experience loss of power to accommodation, restaurants, and shops during work hours, typically between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Air conditioning, phone charging, and refrigeration will be unavailable during outages. If your accommodation is in a rural or semi-urban area, check with your host or hotel whether your location is affected. Carrying a portable charger and having cash on hand is advisable, as card terminals may be offline. Power is generally restored by early afternoon.
