Crete faces 30-34°C heat today; coastal winds offer respite

Saturday, 27 June 2026/SourceFlashnews/1 min read
Today's weather forecast for Crete brings typical late-June Mediterranean conditions. Temperatures across the island are expected to reach 30 to 34 degrees Celsius, with the highest readings inland and in southern areas such as the Messara Plain. Coastal areas including Heraklion, Chania, and Agios Nikolaos will benefit from moderate northerly winds (Meltemi), which provide some relief from the heat. Skies will remain largely clear throughout the day. Tourists are advised to stay hydrated, apply high-factor sunscreen, and avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours between 12:00 and 16:00. The sea remains warm and calm, with good conditions for swimming and water sports. No significant weather disruptions to ferry services or domestic flights are anticipated.
