Series of Aftershocks Strikes Mount Athos Following 4.9 Magnitude Earthquake

Mount Athos has been struck by intense seismic activity following a 4.9 magnitude earthquake. The broader Mount Athos region experienced over 26 aftershocks as seismic tremors continued to affect the area in the wake of the main quake.

The strongest aftershock recorded in the region measured 3.4 on the Richter scale, with a focal depth of 12.9 kilometers. The epicenter was located approximately 11 kilometers west of the Mount Athos area.
