Back to newsA bus reversed along the central coastal avenue (Leoforos Ikarou/paraliaki) in Heraklion on Saturday, July 11, causing a temporary halt to traffic at a major intersection. The unusual maneuver blocked vehicles in both directions for a short period before normal flow resumed. The incident occurred in a busy stretch of the seafront road, which runs between the port area and the eastern suburbs and is frequently used by tourists travelling between the city centre and nearby beaches. No injuries were reported. Visitors driving or taking taxis along Heraklion's coastal road should be aware that this route can experience unexpected disruptions, particularly during peak summer season when traffic is heavier. Allowing extra travel time when heading to or from the port or eastern beach areas is advisable.
