Back to newsThe redevelopment of the Old Electric Power Station (Παλιά Ηλεκτρική) on the Dermatas bay waterfront in Heraklion has moved a step forward. The project involves transforming the historic industrial building, located near Heraklion's coastal area, into a new public space. City authorities have advanced planning approvals for the renovation, which is part of broader efforts to revitalize Heraklion's seafront. For visitors, this waterfront zone sits close to the city center and port area. Once completed, the redeveloped site is expected to add cultural or recreational amenities to the bay. No opening date has been announced yet. Tourists currently visiting Heraklion can explore the nearby port promenade and Koules Venetian fortress while the project progresses.
