Back to newsTwo refreshment kiosks are opening along Heraklion's historic Venetian Walls this week. The kiosk at the Jesus Gate (Porta Gesou) opens on July 3, followed by the kiosk at the Pantokrator Gate on July 4. The openings were announced by Heraklion Mayor Alexis Kalokaerinos. The Venetian Walls are one of the best-preserved Renaissance fortifications in the Mediterranean, encircling the old city and offering panoramic views of Heraklion and the sea. The new kiosks provide visitors with a convenient stop for refreshments while exploring the walls on foot. The Jesus Gate and Pantokrator Gate are both accessible from the city center. This is a good time to walk the walls, as the shaded sections and sea breeze make the route more comfortable during summer heat.
