Back to newsStudies for the redevelopment of the coastal zone along Dermatas Bay in Heraklion have been completed. The project, budgeted at 5.7 million euros, aims to enhance the waterfront area of Crete's capital city. Dermatas Bay sits along the northern coast near the city centre, making it a visible part of the urban seafront experience for visitors. While construction has not yet begun, the completed planning phase marks a significant step toward improving this stretch of coastline. Tourists currently visiting the area can expect the waterfront to remain in its present state for now, but future visits may see an upgraded coastal promenade. Heraklion's seafront is a popular spot for an evening stroll, offering views of the Venetian harbour and the Koules Fortress.
