BOAK Roadworks: Traffic Delays Expected May 15-22

Temporary traffic regulations are in effect on the BOAK (Northern Road Axis of Crete) between Megala Chorafia and Kalyves from May 15 to 22. During nighttime hours, traffic will be managed by temporary traffic lights due to ongoing roadworks in the area. Drivers travelling along the northern coastal route between Chania and Rethymno should expect delays and lane restrictions during these hours. Tourists renting cars or using taxis along this stretch are advised to allow extra travel time at night and follow directions from on-site signage. The BOAK is the main east-west highway across northern Crete, so disruptions can affect travel between major tourist destinations including Chania, Rethymno, and Heraklion.
