Crete Marks 85th Anniversary of Historic WWII Battle

On the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Crete, a commemorative ceremony is being held at Agioi Pantes in the Apokoronas area of Chania regional unit. The event is organized jointly by the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Apokoronas, the Agia Sofia Foundation, and the Institute of Provincial Press. The Battle of Crete (May 1941) was one of World War II's most significant engagements, when Allied forces and Cretan civilians resisted a large-scale German airborne invasion. The battle holds deep cultural importance for locals and draws visitors interested in wartime history each year. Tourists in the Chania area interested in attending should head to Agioi Pantes.
