Platanias Adds 1,600-Cubic-Meter Water Storage to Boost Supply

The Municipality of Platanias, located on the northwestern coast of Crete near Chania, has added five new water storage tanks with a combined capacity of 1,600 cubic meters to strengthen the local water supply network. The project was presented at an official event in Polemárchi and was carried out by DEYAVA, the regional water and sewage authority. The investment aims to improve water distribution reliability across the municipality, which covers a large stretch of the north coast including popular resort areas. For visitors, this means more stable water pressure and supply during the busy summer season, when demand peaks significantly. The upgrade is part of broader infrastructure improvements to the area's utility network and reflects ongoing efforts to support the region's growing tourism capacity.
