Wednesday, 13 May 2026/SourceHaniotika Nea/1 min read
The Public Health and Social Care Directorate of the Chania Regional Unit has issued a notice informing residents and visitors of an increased presence of insects along the Kladisos river area in Chania. The river, located on the western outskirts of the city, is experiencing a higher than usual insect activity, prompting the health authority to communicate the situation publicly. Tourists visiting the Chania area, particularly those exploring riverside paths or staying near the Kladisos, should be aware of this condition. It is advisable to wear light, covering clothing during outdoor activities near the river, use insect repellent, and avoid spending extended time in low-lying or vegetation-heavy areas along the riverbanks, especially during dusk and dawn when insect activity tends to peak. No health emergency has been declared.
