WHO Confirms Five Hantavirus Cases Linked to Cruise Ship MV Hondius

The World Health Organization has confirmed five cases of hantavirus linked to the cruise ship MV Hondius, out of eight suspected cases reported. Hantavirus is a rare viral disease typically transmitted through contact with infected rodents or their droppings. The WHO Director-General announced the confirmed cases following an investigation. Tourists arriving in Crete by cruise ship, particularly those aboard or recently departed from the MV Hondius, should monitor for symptoms including fever, fatigue, and muscle aches, and seek medical attention promptly if unwell.
